Jim has primary responsibility of coordinating the defense of asbestos clients. This includes litigation management, associate supervision, preparation of defense strategies, discovery, document review and production, and medical and non-medical records collection. In addition he conducts and defends discovery and evidence depositions of fact witnesses, corporate representatives, treating physicians, and experts. He also communicates and coordinates with experts to obtain reviews.
In addition, Jim serves as an arbitrator for the Madison County Bar.
A native of Streator, Illinois, Jim joined Heyl Royster in 2013. Jim started his career at a general insurance defense law firm in St. Louis, Missouri from 2001 through 2002. Prior to joining Heyl Royster, Jim practiced with a mid-sized Illinois firm (2002-2013), where he focused on trials involving complex business litigation matters, including representing clients sued for alleged asbestos liabilities. He represented and coordinated all aspects of asbestos litigation for clients sued in multiple jurisdictions including, Illinois, Missouri, Delaware, Texas, New York and California.
