Greg is a partner in the firm's Peoria office and focuses his practice primarily on commercial transactions, intellectual property and health law. Greg represents a range of corporate and banking clients, from entrepreneurs and startups to large companies, counseling them on matters such as purchase agreements, commercial loan documentation, intellectual property development and licensing agreements, mergers and acquisitions and advising on privacy and information security. 

Greg also represents hospitals, physician practice groups, individual physicians and allied health professionals, counseling them on regulatory matters such as HIPAA and HITECH compliance, fraud and abuse compliance (including Stark and Anti-Kickback), as well as issues involving hospital-physician alignment, provider and facility licensure, best practices in corporate governance and governmental investigations.

Significant Cases

  • Greg has over a decade of litigation experience, having served as lead counsel in jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations and mediations.

Transactions

  • Hospital acquisitions of physician clinic practices
  • Formation of healthcare provider entities, including urgent care and plastic surgery clinics
  • Significant experience with hospital/physician employment agreements
  • Successfully resolved False Claims Act violations through self disclosure to Office of Inspector General. 
  • Domestic and international transactions, including purchase agreements, commercial loan documentation, intellectual property development and licensing agreements, energy agreements and contracts with respect to confidentiality and online transactions.
  • Business sales/acquisitions/mergers, formations of new entities, contract drafting and review and healthcare compliance analysis.
  • Successfully resolved healthcare HIPAA privacy and security breaches with the U.S. Office for Civil Rights, the branch of the Department of Health and Human Services responsible for HIPAA enforcement.
  • Experience in reporting and negotiating with Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board to obtain exemptions from Certificate of Need requirements.
