Heyl Royster attorneys Bruce L. Bonds and Kevin J. Luther are co-authors of a book on workers' compensation law in Illinois. The book, Illinois Workers' Compensation Law, 2009-2010 Edition, is the 27th volume of the Illinois Practice Series published by West.

According to the West website, the book "provides an up-to-date, accurate assessment of Illinois workers' compensation law in a practical, easy-to-use format useful to practitioners, adjusters, arbitrators, commissioners, judges, lawmakers, students, and the general public. This one-volume work will help practitioners and legal scholars understand recent amendments to the law."

Bonds concentrates his expertise in the area of workers' compensation, third-party defense of employers, and employment law. He served as a technical advisor to the combined employers group in the negotiations which culminated in the 2005 revisions to the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act. He was recently appointed by Amy Master, Acting Chairman of the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission, to a committee of attorneys who will be reviewing and making recommendations for revisions to the rules governing practice before the Workers' Compensation Commission. He is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Illinois College of Law, where he has taught workers' compensation law to upper-level students since 1998.

Luther is the current Chair of the firm's state-wide workers' compensation practice group. He concentrates his practice in the areas of workers' compensation, employment law, and employer liability. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel and a contributing editor of the Workers' Compensation Report for that organization's Illinois Defense Counsel Quarterly. He is a frequent speaker to industry and attorney groups.
