Brittany prides herself on her work ethic, attention to detail, and accessibility to clients to effectively communicate and tailor a defense strategy to each client and each case. Working out of the firm's Edwardsville office, she represents clients throughout Illinois and Missouri.
Brittany has been practicing for eight years, six of which have been in the civil defense arena. She concentrates her practice in civil litigation, focusing on casualty/tort, insurance services, product liability, and trucking defense. She handles all aspects of the defense of claims and litigation, including claim investigation, preparing pleadings and discovery, and appearing in court to argue complex motions and other matters. Brittany has experience arbitrating UM/UIM claims, defending her clients in mediation, and has first chair trial experience.
Before joining Heyl Royster, Brittany worked at a defense firm in the St. Louis Metro East area, where she defended clients primarily in personal injury defense, property damage claims, premises liability claims, and insurance coverage disputes. From 2015-2016, Brittany served as a Magistrate Judge in North Carolina, where she issued criminal processes and presided over initial appearances and bond hearings.
She received her J.D., summa cum laude, from Valparaiso University Law School. During law school, Brittany clerked for judges in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Porter County Superior Court, and the United States Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Indiana. She also participated in the Post-Conviction Law Clinic, representing clients seeking post-conviction relief.
Brittany spends her time outside the office engaging in service and volunteer work through the Edwardsville Glen Carbon Junior Service Club and spending time with her husband and two young boys.
