Jenna Sur is an associate attorney at Heyl Royster’s Chicago office, where she advises on insurance defense, business and commercial litigation, medical malpractice, and workers’ compensation. She holds a J.D. cum laude and an M.S. in Cybersecurity Risk Management from Indiana University, and a B.A. in International Business & Trade from Kyung Hee University.

During law school, Jenna externed for Judge Michael G. Gotsch Sr. at the U.S. District Court, where she reviewed discovery motions, drafted memoranda, and developed advocacy skills. As a student fellow at the Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research, she analyzed data breach notification laws and examined the False Claims Act’s application to cybersecurity compliance in government-funded university research projects. Through the Entrepreneurship Clinic, Jenna drafted Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policies, and Operating Agreements for start-up clients, blending her legal and technical expertise to help early-stage businesses navigate regulatory requirements.

Before entering the legal field, Jenna worked with the Trade and Investment Unit of an intergovernmental organization in Seoul, South Korea, where she supported entrepreneurs expanding into foreign markets and organized global trade fairs and intergovernmental meetings. These experiences strengthened her ability to manage complex projects and communicate across cultures—skills she continues to apply in her legal practice today.

Jenna’s commitment to service extends beyond her professional work. In law school, she served as an Admissions Fellow, guiding incoming students in their academic and professional development, and participated in the Protective Order Project, helping victims of domestic violence and harassment obtain civil protective orders. She now serves as a mentor with the Asian American Bar Association of Greater Chicago, supporting law students and young professionals as they build their legal careers. Outside of work, Jenna enjoys discovering local coffee shops and restaurants, visiting Chicago’s farmers' markets, and traveling to experience new cultures and cuisines.
