Lauren Jones
Attorney in Peoria, IL
Lauren Jones' early legal career includes diverse experiences across both international and domestic legal landscapes. Notably, Lauren contributed to the development of international commercial law during her internship at UNIDROIT in Rome, where she worked on the Model Law on Factoring and engaged in comparative legal analysis involving UNCITRAL instruments. Domestically, she has clerked for both the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the Virginia Court of Appeals, supported litigation initiatives in personal injury and workers' compensation cases at a North Carolina law firm, and contributed to public interest legal work about healthcare access and Medicaid regulations. She brings this breadth of experience to Heyl Royster's Peoria office, where, as an Associate, she assists clients in both the public and private sectors, navigating complex legal matters with confidence and versatility.
Lauren graduated from Elon University School of Law, where she served as Articles Editor for the inaugural edition of We the People: Elon Law's Constitutional Law Journal. She received induction into the Order of the Barristers for her excellence in oral advocacy and earned recognition as a Rising Star from the North Carolina Bar Association. She was honored as an Equal Justice America Fellow and received Pro Bono Recognition for her commitment to public service. Furthermore, Lauren was selected as a Leadership Fellow and subsequently represented Elon Law at the 2023 Transnational Commercial Law Professor Conference, where she presented her research on international factoring law. This experience, along with her roles as a Teaching Assistant for Contracts and Civil Procedure and as a Research Assistant in Criminal Law, has strengthened her legal foundation and refined her ability to articulate complex concepts clearly—skills that she actively incorporates into her practice.
Before entering the legal field, Lauren taught English in five countries across Asia and worked in college admissions and student affairs, assisting numerous students throughout the college admission process. She remains passionate about cross-cultural communication and lifelong education.
In her leisure time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her dog, reading fiction, learning new languages, and exploring diverse locales around the globe.
