Mitchell Kavanagh

Mitchell Kavanagh, an Associate in the firm's Peoria office, primarily concentrates his practice on all aspects of business and transactional law. Now in his third year with Heyl Royster, Mitchell has successfully completed business transactions totaling in excess of $75 million, including closing the single-largest transaction in Heyl Royster's history. Mitchell's key to success involves establishing a strong relationship with his clients focused on effective communication, timely execution, and positive results.

Additionally, Mitchell represents clients in various types of litigation, ranging from business and commercial litigation to creditors’ rights and bankruptcy matters. As a member of Heyl Royster's Governmental Practice Group, Mitchell advises public bodies in matters related to litigation, risk management, contracting and procurement, employment, corporate governance, and sunshine laws. Mitchell also represents public and private entities in land use, zoning procedures, and litigation related to same.

Outside of his work with Heyl Royster, Mitchell is actively involved in his community. Mitchell co-chairs Project Santa (providing Christmas gifts to South Side Mission and Clipped Wing Global Initiative each year), serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Peoria, and is a member of Knights of Columbus at St. Jude Catholic Church. In his free time, Mitchell enjoys escaping into a good book, cheering on his favorite college and professional sports teams, and exploring the sights and sounds of Peoria and its surrounding areas with his wife, Allie.
