Gregory Flatt
Attorney in Edwardsville, IL
In his more than 10 years as a practicing attorney at Heyl Royster, Greg focuses on a wide range of cases, from asbestos defense work to local government representation to class actions. His ability to efficiently handle clients' needs, coupled with a focus on getting to know those clients personally, makes each of them feel like they've got an attorney solely dedicated to them. He prides himself on showing his clients how consistent preparation, effective communication, and a little bit of old-fashioned grit can provide a foundation for success in even the most complex legal needs.
One probably wouldn't have predicted Greg's path to the legal profession except for a borderline unhealthy obsession with Law & Order at an early age. He studied English at the University of Iowa, dedicated to honing his writing skills. After graduation, Greg moved to the Metro East and began Washington University Law School. While attending law school, Greg clerked for Magistrate Judge Donald G. Wilkerson in the U.S. District Court's Southern District of Illinois, the Madison County State's Attorney's Office, and the General Crimes Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Illinois. Upon graduation, he began seeking a law firm that offered a local Metro East presence with the scope of representation, quality of attorneys, and reputation of a national firm and found a perfect fit at Heyl Royster.
Greg loves listening to music when not in the office (and sometimes even when he's in the office). He plays guitar, mandolin, dulcimer, and piano and occasionally pops into a local open mic night to entertain the patrons to a motley collection of originals and covers.
