Dominique Seymoure
Attorney in Edwardsville, IL
With over 20 years' experience as an attorney, Dominique joined Heyl Royster's Edwardsville, Illinois office in 2019. Dominique began her legal career with a small insurance defense firm in Madison County, Illinois, where she cut her teeth and honed her trial skills representing individuals and companies facing allegations of negligence and other tortious conduct. Since stepping before a jury in her first solo trial in 2003, Dominique has tried more than 20 civil jury trials in central and southern Illinois counties.
Dominique's doggedness and meticulous attention to detail have contributed to her success as a trial attorney. Her approach in each case is to identify early the most efficient means to reach her client's idea of successful resolution. While that is often a reasonable settlement, Dominique is not afraid to step before a judge or jury and zealously advocates for her client's position when necessary.
While Dominique continues to represent individuals and companies in defense of injury claims, she has expanded her practice in recent years to include defending insurance companies and agents against claims of bad faith, unreasonable and vexatious conduct, and extracontractual damages. Whether her client is an individual, corporation, or insurance company, she wants each to feel they are getting her best work.
In addition to her success as a trial attorney, Dominique successfully prosecuted and defended appeals in the Fourth and Fifth District Appellate Courts in Illinois and obtained judgments for her clients, including individuals and insurance companies, through dispositive motions. Dominique has handled a variety of cases, including those involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, trucking accidents, product liability, class actions, toxic torts, consumer fraud, breach of contract, and insurance coverage disputes for insurance companies and their insureds, manufacturers, transportation companies, and property owners.
Outside of the office, Dominique enjoys reading, running, pretending she knows how to golf, and boating on the Mighty Mississippi.
