Denning and Drinkwine Secure Victory in Medical Malpractice Case

Posted on May 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM by Michael Denning, Christopher Drinkwine

Mike Denning and Christopher Drinkwine of Heyl Royster's Rockford Office teamed up to defend a surgeon and his group in a jury trial and on appeal. Denning and his trial team proved to the jury that the firm’s client was not negligent in performing a gastric band removal and hiatal hernia repair despite the patient experiencing an intraoperative injury to his spleen, massive hemorrhaging, the need for a splenectomy, multiple reoperations, and the development of a post-operative pulmonary embolism. On appeal, Drinkwine convinced the Illinois Appellate Court, Fourth District, that the plaintiff's nine contentions of trial error were meritless. The Appellate Court published its opinion: Rowsey v. Breitman, M.D. and Rockford Health Physicians, 2024 IL App (4th) 230742. Successful Defense: Another win for the team! Hard work, dedication, and teamwork paid off.
